Fergana Oil Refinery Plant is 65 years old!

One of the largest manufacturing enterprises in the republic, which provides consumers with all types of petroleum products, in particular high–octane gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, commercial motor oils, bitumen, paraffin and more than 50 other types of petroleum products, is 65 years old today!

What changes have taken place at the plant during this period, what results have been achieved and what are the plans for the future? Today we will talk a little about a company with a long history and strong traditions!

Without the past, there is no future

Workshop No. 1, which is also the first production and technological base of the plant, was put into operation on January 27, 1959. From that moment, for the first time in Central Asia, the production of motor fuels and lubricants began. Over time, the plant's workload increased, and in 1965 the industrial giant started operating at full capacity. In fact, starting this year, the plant began producing K-12 gasoline, as well as higher octane fuel. In 1966, the 2nd workshop of the plant was launched.

Since the early 90s, the plant has switched to processing the entire volume of hydrocarbon raw materials produced in Uzbekistan. In 1992-2004, the Fergana oil refinery plant operated as part of the Uzbekneftegaz holding company, with an annual processing volume of 8.7 million tons of hydrocarbon raw materials. In total, 44 technological facilities were installed at the production site.

The updated appearance of the plant

Today, the Fergana Oil Refinery is considered one of the largest enterprises in the country's oil sector, and its contribution to the development of the economy of the region and our country cannot be overestimated. That is why today the priority task is the production of high–quality fuel and lubricants to meet the needs of the population, further improvement of working conditions and the environmental environment, the introduction of modern energy-saving technologies, and the establishment of strong ties with foreign partners.

In May 2022, the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant was transferred to the management of Saneg. During this time, it was possible to achieve the production of modern and environmentally friendly diesel fuel (summer and winter), establish the production of Jet A-1 jet fuel, master the production of motor, transmission, hydraulic and gear oils that meet the requirements of modern automotive technology and industrial equipment.

The launch of the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant modernization project marked the beginning of a new stage in the operation of the plant, opening up prospects for digital technologies and improvement of production processes.

For example, Fergana oil refinery plant was one of the first in the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan to implement the SAP ERP system, which allowed automating a number of key business processes, including the sale of finished products.

Programs and projects are a vector of success

For stable production of high-quality petroleum products, 5 technological installations are currently being built, and existing ones are being reconstructed. The plant will have a new control complex, a central factory operator room, and a modern laboratory.

After modernization, the production capacity will increase many times and the plant will be able to process more than 2 million tons of hydrocarbon raw materials per year. As a result, the production of AI-92 gasoline and Euro 5 diesel fuel, Jet A-1 aviation fuel, base and engine oils according to API II+/III classification will appear, and the processing depth will reach 92+%.

In order to reduce energy consumption, the water and steam supply system will be optimized at the enterprise. The replacement of old pumps with high energy consumption at existing reconstructed facilities with more energy efficient and modern ones continues.

In addition, by optimizing 116 of the 325 existing tanks at the plant, installing pontoon equipment in 41 tanks, as well as building 36 new tanks, it is planned to drastically reduce the number of irreversible losses during storage of petroleum products.

The state of the environment will improve not only at the plant, but also throughout the region. Control and accounting systems for raw materials, manufactured products and energy resources will be automated.

For example, in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment, an oil sludge processing plant was put into operation together with the Chinese company Hebei GN Solids control Co., LTD.

Another step forward in the company's commitment to innovation and product improvement was the launch of a program to improve the quality of base oils. The project, which is being implemented for the first time in Uzbekistan, will improve the quality of the base oils of the first group and bring them up to European standards.

Patience and perseverance surmount every difficulty

All work is carried out in stages, systematically, thanks to highly qualified personnel of the plant and attracted foreign specialists. The modernization project is part of the overall large–scale strategy of the Fergana oil refinery plant aimed at improving production efficiency, introducing advanced technologies and strengthening the competitiveness of the enterprise.

"Based on the rich history of our plant in the light of the 65th anniversary, we cannot but emphasize the outstanding contribution of all those who worked at the plant for decades, shaping its success and prosperity," said Zafarjon Teshabayev, Director of the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant. – Each stage of change requires patience, perseverance and tremendous work. We are confident that our commitment and perseverance, as before, will prove to be reliable partners in this exciting journey into the future of our plant."
