Fergana Oil Refinery Implements Technology to Increase Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Production

In the oil refining industry, the implementation of solutions aimed at increasing the depth and efficiency of hydrocarbon feedstock processing continues. One such approach involves incorporating secondary processing fractions into the production of commercial petroleum products.

Fractions obtained at later stages of processing typically contain elevated amounts of resinous and unsaturated compounds, as well as sulfur- and nitrogen-containing components. These properties complicate their further use, negatively affect product stability, and lead to increased equipment wear, requiring additional methods of purification and stabilization.

Specialists at the Fergana Oil Refinery have developed and implemented a technological approach that involves blending coker gasoline and coker distillate with straight-run diesel fuel, followed by processing the mixture in a hydrodesulfurization unit. During hydrodesulfurization, the content of undesirable compounds is reduced, product stability is improved, and operational properties are enhanced.

Following the implementation of this technology, an increase in diesel fuel output was observed due to the partial incorporation of coker gasoline, low-temperature properties of diesel fuel improved, including a reduction in the pour point, and stable gasoline suitable for the production of commercial gasoline of all grades without restrictions was obtained.

The implementation of this solution has increased the efficiency of utilizing secondary processing fractions, raised the output of commercial products, and reduced dependence on scarce straight-run components. The adoption of the technology has also had a positive impact on the economic performance of production.

These works are being carried out as part of the refinery’s modernization program and aim to ensure a stable supply of petroleum products to the domestic market with the required quality characteristics.
