SIUT Students Completed Industrial Internship at Fergana Oil Refinery

As part of the cooperation between Fergana Oil Refinery (FNPZ) and Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT), a two-week industrial internship was organized for 1st- and 2nd-year students of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering.

During the internship, 16 students had the opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge through real production experience. This process became not only a stage of professional development but also a valuable platform for personal growth, teamwork, and learning to make responsible decisions.

The students were introduced to modern technological units such as atmospheric-vacuum distillation (AVT), hydrocracking, isomerization, hydrogen production, wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring, and safety systems. Some students participated in laboratory analyses, while others were directly involved in the operation and supervision of technological processes.

Practical workshops, guided tours, and interactive discussions were conducted by plant engineers, technologists, and department heads. These activities helped the students establish direct connections with the industrial environment, develop engineering thinking, and gain deeper insights into the principles of industrial operations.

Tolqin Samukov, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovation Affairs at SIUT, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor:

“For our students, this experience is not just an internship — it is a key step toward understanding their future profession. The internship at FNPZ gave them exposure to real industry challenges and inspired them to find effective solutions. Programs like this play a vital role in shaping the successful oil and gas engineers of tomorrow.”

Nasiba Shodmonova, Head of the Training and Development Department at FNPZ:

“Preparing competitive professionals today requires not just classroom learning, but also practical experience in real working conditions. This internship benefits both sides: students learn in practice, and we can identify motivated and talented future specialists early on. Transferring knowledge to the next generation is a core value of our company. FNPZ is not only a production site — it is a place where the professionals of the future are nurtured.”

The partnership between FNPZ and SIUT is more than just a student internship — it is a strong foundation for long-term and sustainable human resource development. This two-week experience marked an important step along that path.
