On January 27, 2025, the Fergana Oil Refinery celebrates its 66th anniversary — a significant milestone in the history of industrial development of the region and the entire country. Since its launch in 1959, the enterprise has become an integral part of the petrochemical industry of Uzbekistan. Today, the plant continues to develop dynamically, introducing advanced technologies and meeting international quality standards.
The Fergana Oil Refinery was commissioned on January 27, 1959, with a design capacity of 6.45 million tons of oil per year. In 1988–1990, the processing capacity of the Fergana Oil Refinery increased to 8 million tons. The plant became a pioneer in the introduction of modern technologies of that time, which ensured a significant increase in production capabilities.
In 1998–2000, in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, during which new units were put into operation: hydrodesulfurization of diesel fuels, a nitrogen production unit, a point loading station, and existing process lines were modernized.
With the launch of the modernization program in the 2020s, the plant began a new stage of its development. After completion of the work, production capacity will reach the processing of 2 million tons of hydrocarbon raw materials per year with the release of products that meet the Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards. The processing depth will be more than 92%.
In 2024, Fergana Oil Refinery completed the implementation of a number of key projects:
- Water supply and steam supply systems have been optimized, and outdated pumps have been replaced with energy-efficient models.
- 36 modern storage tanks were built and put into operation, which made it possible to significantly reduce the loss of petroleum products during storage.
- Solar panels with a capacity of 1.3 MW were installed, which was an important step towards the use of renewable energy sources.
- The production of Jet A-1 aviation fuel, Euro-4 and Euro-5 diesel fuel, and modern motor oils has been launched.
- The plant’s infrastructure has been improved: more than 3 km of roads have been repaired and landscaping work has been carried out.
Priority tasks for 2025 include:
- Completion of construction of a new installation, such as KSA, as well as completion of reconstruction of the ELOU AVT-2 and ELOU AVT-3 installations.
- Increasing the depth of oil refining to 92%.
- Expanding the export potential of products by 20%, which will allow entering new international markets.
- Commissioning of modernized systems for automated accounting of raw materials and energy resources.
Fergana Oil Refinery actively supports young people and educational initiatives. In 2024, more than 50 students from the Fergana Polytechnic Institute visited the plant. Such excursions help develop interest in technical specialties that play a key role in the country's economy.
General Director of Fergana Oil Refinery Zafarjon Teshabaev noted: "The success of our enterprise is the merit of a team of professionals.
